Import and Export of Levs and Foreign Currency into/out of the Republic of Bulgaria   The customs requirements for bringing foreign currency into the Republic of Bulgaria are as follows (BGL equivalent):   Up to 8 000 levs – without Customs Declaration; From 8 000 to 25 000 levs – with Customs Declaration; From 25 000 levs – with Customs Declaration and a detailed bank statement proving the origin of funds. Export regulations are the same.   In case of import/export of sums exceeding 25 000 levs or their equivalent in foreign currency the resident and nonresident physical persons shall also declare before the customs authorities the sources of the funds and shall also submit certificate from respective tax office for regular tax payment.
